Information
Present in Mali since the mid-1970s following the great droughts in the Sahel, the Swiss Confederation, through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), have gradually built up its activities among Malian populations and institutions. The 2012-2015 Swiss development cooperation strategy in Mali continues along this trajectory while taking on a particular dimension linked to the current situation in the Sahel countries.
In this context, LuxDev has been mandated by the SDC to implement the Programme through an objective: "Food security and improved incomes within a vision of equitable territorial development". In this context, the milk and potato sectors are particularly privileged, including all of the underlying and linked services associated with the supply chains of these two commodities. Implementation of the strategy will combine a policy of strengthening the autonomy of actors in the two sectors and support to Malian institutions in creating synergies between donors, thus giving Swiss action, implemented by LuxDev, a national or even sub-regional dimension.
